Currently my choice of places to stay is hostel. I always like to meet new people and hostel is one of the best place to do it. Adler Hostel is a luxury hostel located in Singapore’s Chinatown district. My decision of choosing of this hostel was I need a cheap affordable place yet has the comfort of a hotel. My goal for this trip was to meet several friends hence a laid-back and lazy kind of trip is what I expect.
Located just 5 minutes walk from Chinatown MRT exit, this hostel located right in the center of Singapore’s historical district. What I really like about Adler Hostel is the proximity to MRT, Chinatowns main tourist destination, and food stalls.
Check in time was at 3PM, so I was very early to arrived at that time. But no problem, I can store my luggage for a while and use their free wi-fi which worked throughout the building.
Adler Hostel Room
I tried the mixed dormitory room. I was promised by the website or booking info that it would give extra room on each dorm, I was hooked! upon checking out my bed it has extended shelving space, a locker (not fit for my 35L backpack) to place my clothes and document, 2 comfy pillow, hotel quality quilt, towel, 1 clothes hanger, and an ear plug. I love it!
The dormitory bed is 3-stories high. So, if you’re afraid of height this would be challenge.
Shower area is outside the room. I like that they provide hairdryer, soap and shampoo. The only problem was there was only 3 -4 shower rooms and 2 toilet per floor. I was lucky the dormitory was not full at the time, I don’t like to wait long to shower.
The Breakfast
Breakfast is free when you stayed at Adler Hostel. The lobby / common room serve as the breakfast area too. For a luxury hostel I kinda like their breakfast. I stayed for 2 days and surprise they gave different set of breakfast; scrambled eggs, waffle, orange juice, sausage, fruit, and toast bread on my first day and tater tots, waffle, sausage, fruit, and milk for my second day. What I don’t like is we have to use paper plates, bummer.
What I Like:
- Their selection of complimentary tea in the lobby
- 5 minute walk from Chinatown MRT station
- Very close to Chinatown sightseeing spot: The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Chinatown street market, and Sri Mariamman Temple
- 3 minutes walk to Ann Siang Hill road. One of Singapore’s popular hangout place with terrific tapas bar and vintage cafe.
